Healthcare

As we work to identify and address the inequities faced by people with disabilities, especially at the intersections with other marginalized identities, we’ve discovered systemic disparities within the healthcare system. We define ‘healthcare’ broadly to include both access to healthcare and health outcomes. We also encourage you look at the Gap Analysis we conducted, which focuses on 5 specific areas we found to be the most problematic for the disability community.

By embracing this broad definition of ‘healthcare,’ we can better uncover and address the disparities affecting people with disabilities, particularly when these challenges intersect with other factors like race, socioeconomic status, or gender. This comprehensive approach enables us to advocate more effectively for equitable healthcare policies and practices, ensuring that everyone has access to the support and care they need.

Below, you’ll find ways we are actively working to disrupt these systemic inequities. Whether it’s through sharing personal stories, advocating for improved policies, or informing people of their rights with articles and infographics, we are committed to ending ableism within the healthcare system.
